It may feel like we are smack dab in the middle of winter
and spring sessions, but there are still plenty of classes that are just
getting underway. It’s not too late to register and join in the fun! You can

Art:
Stone Sculpture (Ages 16 and up)
Learn about the types of stone, the artists’ tools, and
how to hammer, chisel and sand your creation.
10 sessions starting 2/20 at Ross Boddy Community
Recreation Center 7:00 – 9:00 pm
Draw & Clay (Ages 5-9)
The February class will learn to draw, paint and sculpt
grizzly bears. A $10 material fee is due to the instructor at the first class.
4 sessions starting 2/5 at Germantown and 2/6 at Bauer
Community Recreation Centers 5:30- 6:30 pm
Art with Storytelling (Ages 6-9)
Children will develop their listening, and imaginative
skills as children’s stories are played while they work on projects with a
variety of materials including clay, papier-mâché, and more.
5 sessions starting 2/16 at Wisconsin Place Community
Recreation Center 11:30 am – 12:30 pm
Fitness:
Category 4 Fitness Boot Camp (Ages 18 and up)
This is a 60-minute program that incorporates cardio,
resistance and core exercise training in an interval training system that is
broken down into 30 seconds and 1-minute segments.
9 sessions started in January at Germantown Community
Recreation Center but this class is allowing late registration on RecWeb with
flexible make-ups. (See separate article above for a complete listing of days
and times.)
Zumba Fitness (Ages 16 and up or 13-15 if accompanied by
a parent)
This Latin-based cardio workout burns calories and leaves
you feeling energized while you dance and move to the latest Latin beats.
4 and 5 session programs available with various February
start dates at Longwood, Mid-County, and White Oak Community Recreation
Centers. See page 47 of the Guide for complete listing.
Group Personal Training (Ages 14 and up)
Get motivated and stay accountable with this small group
training class. Certified instructors will lead participants through safe and
effective exercises using weight machines, free weights and dumbbells.
Participants will work with instructors to create a personalized training
program.
4 sessions starting 2/2 at Germantown Community
Recreation Center 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Yoga Workshop for Scoliosis/Posture (Ages 8 and up)
Anyone with back pain or posture issues will benefit from
this yoga class. We’ll work on movements that will improve core muscle strength
and flexibility which is essential for supporting the back and spine.
Participants are given a Body Massage Ball and a $22 material fee is due to the
instructor at time of class.
1 session on 2/24 at Potomac Community Recreation Center
3:00 – 5:00 pm
Dance:
International Folk Dancing (Ages 17 and up)
Beginner and Advanced dancers will review folk dances as
well as experience the music and culture from countries like Bulgaria, Armenia,
Hungary, Romania, Greece, Israel and more. In the second half of the class the
intermediate/advanced dancers will explore dances from Turkey, Slovakia,
Croatia, Serbia and more. This class continues from session to session and you
can use your pass from season to season.
