Individuals
with disabilities are encouraged to register for programs. Any general program
or class may be adapted by using auxiliary aids and services. Keep in mind as
you are making your decision that the structure of the class, activity, group
size and participant to staff ratio remain the same. Companions are available
and provide assistance to facilitate the inclusion of individuals with
disabilities. Companions are trained as volunteers who will help with
integration into the program, but they cannot provide personal care. Placement
is limited, so be sure to give early notification by calling 240-777-6870 or email
rec.mainstream@montgomerycountymd.gov to request a companion.
