The Scotland Neighborhood located in Potomac, recently
celebrated the groundbreaking of a long-awaited improvement to their community:
a brand new neighborhood community center. The groundbreaking ceremony took
place on March 27 with Montgomery County Executive Isiah Legget and Montgomery
County Council President, Nancy Navarro, and other dignitaries in attendance.
The project involves tearing down the existing structure and
building a brand new facility with a larger gym, new equipment, weight room,
game room, kitchen, lounge and meeting rooms. In addition, patrons of the new
center will notice improved parking and landscaping. Importantly, the project will
conform with Montgomery County standards for green building, sustainability,
energy guidelines and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The new center
is scheduled to open in Fall, 2014.
