Instructor James Davis, whom we have featured in past issues of The RECord, takes you on a culinary tour
of South Africa, northern Italy, and our neighbor, Virginia, that includes
authentic foods and regional wine pairings. At the end of each class you’ll
leave with recipes for your next home cooking adventure, as well as extensive
wine notes. All classes take place at the Ross Boddy Community Center and a $20
food and wine fee is due to the instructor. Sign up with someone, or give one
or all three as a gift! Participants must be ages 21 or older.
The Great Red
Wines of Italy
Explore Italy through classic dishes including lasagna milanese, pasta
fagiole, and a regional northern spaghetti sauce. Then settle in for a tour of
some of the best wines in the world including Amarone, a white wine made from grapes
that have been dried for up to four months, and red wines from the Piedmont
region.

Virginia –
Good Wines at Last!
Virginia has built a name for itself in the wine industry. Travel and Leisure named Virginia one of
the five regions to visit in their Wine Lovers Guide. This class
will pair nine Virginia wines with three regional dishes: Virginia ham tarts,
crab cakes, and turkey from the Shenandoah Valley.

Mid-Winter
Comfort Wines
In this session you’ll visit small towns in and around Cape Town, South
Africa through dishes like pork tenderloin with yoghurt, mustard and prunes, or
litchi baked fish, and of course, lamb. Pair these with wines from the Constantia Valley and you will become a fan of
South Africa.
