Fun Friday at the Mid County Community Recreation Center

The first thing you notice at the Mid County CommunityRecreation Center is just how friendly and welcoming the staff at this facility are. Hand made signs decorate the walls and help you identify the activities scheduled for the day. Inside, the Center has all of the important amenities including a fitness room, several meeting rooms, a large community room, game room, gymnasium, and more. Outside you'll find basketball courts and directly behind the center is the Layhill Village Park with a playground, ball field, tennis courts, and a tiered, grassy area that would be perfect for a picnic.

The Mid County Community Recreation Center is chock full of programs for the littlest members of the community up to Seniors. Lil 1's Open Gym offers a warm place for kids ages 4 and younger (and their parents) to run and play with ride on toys, balls and more. Club Friday  keeps kids in grades 3 through 5 entertained with games, crafts, movies and special events. Local girls that are in high school will benefit from the Goal Setting Girls program  where they will learn how to improve their nutrition, academic, and career development through field trips and fun activities. Area seniors can stay fit and active with classes like Bone Builders, Chair Aerobics, Tai Chi, and Line Dancing.

Stop by the Mid County center located at 2400 Queensguard Road in Silver Spring or call 240-777-6820 for more information on services and programming, and check out the video below for a tour of the facility and the park next door!
