Montgomery
County Recreation has 12 locations that feature programming for adults 55 and
over. You are sure to find something that will appeal to your interests and
abilities.
Whether it’s
arts, culture, education or fitness, our programs keep local seniors feeling
young because they are always learning something new and trying new things.
Explore what
each location has to offer. Here is a short list of locations with senior
programming and some highlights from their summer calendars. For detailed

you.
Praisner (Burtonsville) offers an indoor
walking program on Tuesdays and Thursdays and mark your calendar for the “Life of Pi” movie on July 9th at
11:00 am
Potomac offers Tai Chi classes on Mondays and
Wednesdays, as well as chair exercise classes on Tuesdays and Fridays
Wheaton offers Senior Volleyball on Mondays
and Thursdays from 12:30 – 2:30 pm and Bone Builders classes on Tuesdays and
Thursdays from 1:00 – 2:00 pm
Damascus will be hosting the First Fruits
Gospel Blue Grass Band on July 7th at 1:00 pm and invites seniors
and their families to join in on the Intergenerational Ice Cream Social on
August 8th at 1:00 pm.
Long Branch has a special guest every Wednesday
when regular volunteer Lisa visits at 10:30 to lead a craft session. Every Thursday at noon local instructor Kirk
Talbott leads Tai Chi and Qi Gong classes.
Schweinhaut Senior Center (Silver Spring) has everything from
‘armchair travel’ talks that take you around the world, to weekly discussion
groups where you learn to maximize your quality of life (Thursdays at 11:00
am), to fitness classes, and regular Monday movies (“Doubt” will be shown July
15 at 1:00 pm).
White Oak (Silver Spring) will celebrate the
great American opera singers of our time on July 9th from 1:30 –
3:30 pm and will show the 1956 film “Richard III” on July 19th from
10:30 am – 12:30 pm
