Art is thriving in Montgomery County and you can be a part of it! We offer
a wide range of art classes that extend well beyond drawing and painting. Here
are just a few of the unique courses that might appeal to your more artistic
side.
Chinese
Watercolor
#338293 at Montgomery Blair High School
Wednesdays starting January 16, 7:30 – 9:30 pm
All levels are welcome to join a local Chinese artist to learn basic brush
strokes and technique needed to paint the “four gentlemen” of Chinese
art: bamboo, chrysanthemum, plum blossom and orchid.
Stone
Sculpture
#344360 at Ross Boddy Community Recreation Center
Wednesdays starting February 20, 7:00 – 9:00 pm
There is something very appealing (and primitive) about hitting a rock with
a hammer and chisel! Learn the basics of
stone sculpture including how to use that hammer and chisel, as well as sanding
and finishing your piece. Participants
should bring gloves and safety goggles or glasses to the first class. You will
need to bring your own tools and you will learn more at the first class, as
well.
Digital
Photography
#344309 at Bauer Community Recreation Center
Saturdays starting January 12 10:00 – 11:30 am
Take better photos, surprise your family and
capture those special moments to share. Whether you are using a DSLR (digital
single-lens reflex) camera, iPhone, or another type of digital camera, you will
learn how to frame your photos, utilize natural versus studio lighting, and how
to crop, edit and save photographs onto various storage devices.
