The outdoor
pools are closed and your sun-kissed summer skin is starting to fade. Summer
seems so far away but it’s only 7 months until the pools re-open! Why not start
planning NOW for that summer job as a Pool Operator or Life Guard? Who knows –
you might even be able to get work at one of the county’s indoor pools over the
winter where it always feels like summer. Montgomery County Recreation offers
American Red Cross courses designed for Aquatics professionals from pool
operators, to lifeguards, to lifeguard instructors.
Pool Operators (training course is 2 sessions, $130
and review course is 1 session, $80)
We offer a safety-training
course and a review course for those looking to take the Montgomery County Pool
Operator test. Students must attend both sessions for the pool operator course,
and one session for the review course, both of which are held at the Montgomery
County Recreation offices, 4010 Randolph Road, Silver Spring. Students must
also apply to the Department of Health and Human Services for the County Pool
Operator License once they have successfully completed the course and passed
the test. For more information and for a complete list of course dates call
240-777-6860 or visit RecWeb and
search on “lifeguard” under advanced search.
Lifeguard Instructor Training (6 sessions, $295)
