Basketball is
not the only popular indoor winter sport. We have some unique offerings that
give kids the chance to learn something new, stay fit, and stay warm because
all of these winter sports are indoors!
Cheerleading (7 sessions, $98)
In this
course kids ages 6-9 will learn basic cheerleading skills including motions,
formations, chats, cheers and some basic dance moves and stunts. Participants
will get a work out, improve coordination, experience teamwork like never
before, and build their confidence with each lesson! Poms are supplied for use
at class.

Cheerleading by One-on-One (10 sessions, $120)
Kids ages
5-12 will work with One-on-One’s experienced staff and get a positive
introduction to the sport of cheerleading. Participants will learn dance moves,
motions, jumps, posture, flexibility and conditioning. At the end of the
session parents and friends are invited to a ‘pep rally’ where kids will
showcase the moves they have learned.

Table Tennis / Ping Pong (9 sessions, $148)
Did you know
that Montgomery County is home to a premier Table Tennis training center where
world-class coaches help train recreational players as well as Olympians? The
Maryland Table Tennis Center in Gaithersburg has teamed up with Recreation to
offer a class that is part instructional, part organized games. Table Tennis
can improve a child’s hand-eye coordination, concentration, and mental strength
in addition to the physical workout. This class will cover all aspects of the
game from various strokes, to blocking, footwork, and serving. Players are
grouped by age and ability. A $10 material fee is due the first day of class.

Fencing with Mohebban
Learn from a
world champion! Local resident, world champion and former Olympian, Gitty
Mohebban leads our fencing program with classes that range in ability from
beginner to advanced. Kids and adults get hooked on learning, practicing and
improving the techniques taught in class. This sport requires intelligence and
the ability to read a person’s next move in addition to physical strength.

This is a
great way for young kids to burn up some energy in a safe, supervised sport
where they learn to control their bodies through balance, concentration, and
more. Kids will practice doing rolls, cartwheels, handstands, balance beam, and
more. Plus they will get time on the trampoline to learn various jumps.

Gymnastics for Boys and Girls Ages

Bigger kids
will get an introduction to all the gym apparatus including floor work, balance
beam, vault, uneven bars, and the trampoline. Participants will work on strength,
flexibility, and control as they build their self-confidence and learn new
skills.
